1. Which of the possible venues do you think would best suit this play? Why do you believe the dramatic action would be best served in this venue?
A flexible or black box stage would be the best venue to hold this play. No matter if the audience surrounds the stage on three sides or one, it is close-knit. Also, the transitions would be easier to catch when the characters move from one side of the stage to the other.

2. What are some of the design challenges posed by the play?
Design challenges could include the transitions between real-time and flashbacks and the perception of being in the car. Transitioning between real-time and flashbacks is sort of indicated by the driving lesson title, however, the audience can still become confused about the age and time period of the scene. Also, the perception of being in the car and the actions taking place have to be set up well so the audience feels as if their in the car as well.

3. Choose the various chorus characters and discuss how you see them dressed. In what ways do you think the costumes you describe would help articulate their purpose in this play?
I see the waiter dresses in typical waiter uniform, a white button up, black pants, black shoes. Because of the time period this play was written in, I imagine the female chorus to be dressed in long dresses that stop below the knee and the dresses have either dull or vibrant colors on them. I imagine a lot of floral print and high socks with flats. I see the father in dirty work clothes with his sleeves rolled up.

4. Provide some ideas about the use of light in the play?
The use of a spotlight allows the audience to recognize where the playwright wants the attention to be towards. Dimming of the lights while two actions occur simultaneously emphasize and direct attention as well.

5. Suggest music and sound effects that could help accentuate the mood or atmosphere of the play.
While Peck and Lil Bit are in the car and at dinner, slow music can play to accentuate emotions are forming and flirting tactics are being exchanged. To emphasize being in the car, an engine can be heard in the background and lights can come on illuminating it. In the restaurant, elevator music can be playing to accentuate a common area.
